Sun Princess is Princess Cruises'' most modern ship, and the internal logic of her design reflects choices Princess made after analyzing what guests actually use on contemporary ships. The Piazza is the organizing principle — a multi-story atrium with restaurants, bars, and entertainment venues wrapped around a central performance space. It functions as a town square rather than a lobby, and the result is a ship that feels more navigable than Princess''s previous generation despite being significantly larger.

The dining landscape on Sun Princess is the most expansive in Princess history. The main dining room (split across multiple venues for different atmospheres), specialty restaurants (Crown Grill steakhouse, Sabatini''s Italian, Spellbound dinner theater experience), the Lido Marketplace, and a food hall with regional specialty options. The Spellbound experience is the most ambitious new offering — a theatrical dinner show with an immersive narrative that runs across multiple spaces on the ship.

MedallionClass, Princess''s wearable technology system, has been refined on Sun Princess. The medallion (a quarter-sized device worn as a clip or wristband) enables contactless boarding, cabin door unlocking without a card, order-anywhere service, and Ocean Now (the app-based ordering and tracking system for food and beverages). The technology has been operational on Princess ships since 2017 and has worked through its early friction; on Sun Princess, the system is mature.

Sun Princess is appropriate for: Princess loyalists who want the line''s newest hardware, couples and families who value a wide dining program and modern ship design, and Mediterranean-market travelers who want a newer ship than Princess''s previous generation. The large size (4,300 guests) means port crowding on tender ports is a real consideration. Travelers who prefer smaller, quieter ships should look at Princess''s older mid-size fleet or other lines.
